Pre-school is an important stage in every child's educational development. It is at this stage in the schooling process that children begin to learn and develop basic concepts and social skills. Our pre-school classes are structured to foster learning and collaboration.
The earliest Autana Montessori Bilingual School will accept new students is when they are 18 months old. Our staff are licensed daycare providers with years of experience in toddler care. You can rest assured that when your children attend our daycare facility, they are in good hands.
We understand that not all parents have time to look after their kids once school gets out, that's why we have after school programs in place. While you're finishing up in the office, we'll keep an eye on your children at our licensed daycare. Call (303) 664-4788 for more information on our childcare services.
We are proud to be a bilingual school that uses both the English and Spanish languages. At our Montessori school in Lafayette, CO, children learn to speak another language and to appreciate the culture associated with it. The knowledge and skills children learn from this bilingual teaching approach help them in other aspects of early childhood development.
We are so grateful to have found Autana Preschool for our son after moving from California to Colorado in July 2023. Transitioning to a new state came with its challenges, but Autana has truly fostered a sense of community that has made this experience positive.
As a locally owned school, not a franchise, the commitment from directors Patricia and Raquel, along with their dedicated teachers, is evident. They genuinely care about providing a nurturing and enriching environment based on Montessori principles. Ive seen my son grow more independent, make wonderful friends, and form strong bonds with his teachers.
In just a year and a half, the amount he has learned has impressed us immensely. Whenever we face parenting challenges, Patricia and Raquel have taken the time to meet with us and offer their support, reminding us that kids dont come with instructions. They go above and beyond! Their kindness and dedication have made a significant difference in our familys transition.
I highly recommend Autana for anyone who is looking for a kind, nurturing environment based on the Montessori principles.
Autana is a top-notch Bilingual Montessori school, with strong community and family values.
My kiddo started going at around 18 months, and the growth and independence they've helped foster is invaluable: from potty training guidance, to independence getting dressed in the morning and helping with the dishes!.
They not only helped and guided him with a loving hand through so many milestones, they also helped me as a first time mom feel good about dropping him off: he's in a safe, loving place, surrounded by peers he'll learn from and play with.
The bilingual & multicultural aspect of the school, at this young age, is also a tremendous advantage. The kids get to spend a significant portion of their day living in a different language, and it does make a big difference.
Love, patience, care and a guiding hand are present every day in every activity. I can't recommend this place enough!
My son has been at Autana for the last three years. In that time he has grown and thrived under the care and attention provided from the teachers and owners. The combination of a Montessori environment, a bilingual influence, and attentive care givers has provided the peace of mind and comfort that every parent seeks for their child. I will be forever grateful that his early years were spent at a place as special as Autana.
Autana is a wonderful school environment where the Montessori practices are thoughtfully curated and followed. My two sons both attended, one in toddler and one in primary, and they thrived. They developed independence, a deeper awareness of the children and environment around them, and thoughtful behavior that they carried with them at home and beyond. Raquel and Patty are very passionate about the experience of the children and the environment and community they work to foster. You can feel how heartfelt they are and the love they have for their work. They try very hard to find teachers that align with those values and that are Montessori trained which can be very difficult. Communication is key, in any environment, and as a parent it was helpful to ask questions when I needed clarity on something or had a desire for my childrens education and experience. I am thankful for our experience at Autana and the care they showed our children.
My daughter loves school. This experience has been amazing. I highly recommend.
The best school my child could have. He is happy and learning a lot everyday!
My son has attended Autana for a year and a half, and we intend to keep him enrolled at the school until he's ready for elementary school. The Co-Founders of the school work closely with the staff to create a nurturing environment for the children to learn and thrive independently. When our child goes through major developmental changes, the team actively participates with the parents to support the child and family. We're very grateful for the Autana learning environment and community, there's nothing better as a parent than to see our child walk into school confidently and with so much joy every day.
Autana is a wonderful school and we feel lucky to have our son there. This was our first experience with childcare and it has exceeded all of our expectations! His teacher is amazing and he has learned so much from her guidance. He's much more confident and independent due to the Montessori method and seems happy to go to school each day. Patty and Raquel are an amazing duo who keep things running smoothly and create a loving, welcoming environment for kids and their families. They truly are meant for this and we are so grateful for their investment in our son and all of the kids in this community.
Both of my kids have attended Autana for three years. It is a warm, caring, and nurturing environment. The owners and teachers are angels. Autana fosters the independence of children while meeting kids on their own terms. One of my sons had a very difficult time potty training, but Autana was extremely patient and loving, and they are responsible for his eventual success. The school uses the Montessori approach which emphasizes practical life skills and independence. Many of the teachers are dual Spanish and English speaking. While neither of my sons speak Spanish at home, when they do say an occasional word in Spanish, their pronunciation sounds like a native speaker, thanks to Autana. I cannot say enough good things about this school.
We love Autana and how gently the teachers helped us with the transition of our son from home to being part of the everyday community of the school.
Patty and Raquel who run the school, are deeply dedicated for the growth and social emotional thriving of every child.
My son learned so much since he started going to Autana (He was singing the month of the year data day, etc) But what I really wanted to make sure is that he is in an environment that grows his confidence and he feels loved and safe in. And he does :)
Autana is my sons first soft landing into what eventually will become a long journey of learning, and we are so happy that was where he started.
My children have been at Autana Bilingual Montessori School since 2022. Patricia, Raquel, and the entire teaching team are exceptionally qualified and compassionate educators. They partner closely with us parents, fostering an environment where our children explore, learn, and develop independence and confidence. Beyond strong academics, Autana builds a welcoming community for parents. We've made wonderful friends, and it truly feels like we belong. I highly recommend Autana to any family seeking a nurturing and enriching experience for their children.
I truly cannot speak highly enough about this school. We have had our child there for about a year now. She is absolutely flourishing in every way. We LOVE the bilingual program but more than that we know our child is being taught in a small, calm, caring environment. Our daughter begs to go to school every day. She speaks about her teachers every day and how much she loves them. We love the diversity, inclusivity, culture and the education at this school.
We adore this school. Both of our children have started around age 2 and gone through to the end of their program. As an attachment therapist I know the importance of schools that understand early childhood attachment and also motivation through positive and compassion oriented methods (rather than rules and shame). I can't say enough about this school's focus on healthy attachment and building the foundation for confidence and empathy. We are so grateful for Autana.
Autana has been a wonderful experience for our family since moving to Colorado three years ago. Our oldest two are currently enrolled and we will enroll our youngest as soon as he is old enough. The heads of school are wonderful humans and incredibly knowledge Montessori teachers and leaders. They care deeply about the children in the school and hire competent, warm and loving staff. We were unsure about Montessori pedagogy when our oldest was starting school but weve seen the impact its had on kids, who learn very differently and each have their own ways of doing thingsbut have both thrived with the Montessori approach and we believe it has enabled them to become their own independent, capable, curious and kind kids. Autana also is one of the most diverse environments weve been in and thats a beautiful thing, especially here in Colorado.
We have been a part of this magical, warm, amazing community for over 6 years now. I cannot express what this place means to our family and how much love everything about it. We feel so honored to have been a part of this community for so long. Patty & Raquel pour their hearts into this place and breathe such love and life into it. They care deeply about education, Montessori, and the health & well-being of each and every child. We love this place, always will.
We love Autana Bilingual Montessori! All the teachers & staff have exceptional qualifications in early childhood education. Our daughter Madison has been attending Autana for just over a year now & we can say without a doubt that moving her from a daycare to this school, was the best decision we've made for her. She is happier, more stable & has developed so much as a confident, independent toddler. Our son will be attending this school as soon as he is able because we love this community & everything that Autana has provided to our daughter. Thank you Patty & Raquel for your heartfelt investment in building a thriving environment for the youngest generation in Boulder county!
Autana is a beautiful school and loving community. Our child has attended this school for 4 years and we couldn't feel more privileged and happy to have the teachers at Autana be a part of our lives. The thoughtfulness, love, passion and care that the owners, Patti and Raquel, as well as the teachers and staff bring to the school every day is the absolute best anyone could ever dream of. This is truly a family. They honor the Montessori model and add the Spanish/English language component seamlessly. It is beautiful and amazing to see the kids thrive in this authentically bilingual environment. I have had the pleasure of coming into the classroom to help out several times over the years and always leave with my heart full to see a little glimpse of the kids' daily life at the school. Over the years they have navigated the uncertainty and chaos of covid closures and risks very well and we have always felt safe to bring our child here.
We've had a wonderful experience with Autana. The teachers are lovely, caring, and encouraging. The 1 star review below is from a former employee who worked for 2 weeks, and 2 weeks too long. They are a growing school and are about 1/2 to 2/3rds capacity now. There's an organic garden, great recreation structures, yoga, strong reading and math programs. Manners, cooperation, and positive reinforcement are taught. There is no time out of other negative encouragements. Most teachers speak Spanish only with the students and the students love speaking in Spanish in return. It's great to have a school where NAPs and HUGGING is integral to the core of care. The tuition is VERY reasonable. We've done both Waldorf for 14 years for our older children and a couple years of Montessori for our younger children. Both have their place, similarities, and large differences.
Loving Montessori Environment
I am fairly new to Autana, but wanted to recommend them personally. If my review ends up changing, I will certainly update- because I like to give a fair and honest impression.
My son was at a daycare center in Longmont from 6 months of age, to almost 2.5. It was a long commute, but we found a place that was like family and felt it was worth it. Two years of a 30 minute drive finally got to us, so we made the switch to Autana. I was really nervous about this switch, because it felt like I was moving our son away from family and I wasn't sure how he would do in a Montessori environment.
It took a few days to adjust, but I can say my son is thriving there. He gets excited to go, and when I pick him up he is excited to tell me about his day. The owners are warm and welcoming and have been really responsive to my "helicopter" parenting and have made me feel like it's okay! His teachers are loving and kind, and have created a warm learning environment for him. He learned so much from his first school and his communication skills/counting/alphabet are already impressive, so I didn't expect a huge developmental leap when he started at Autana. Boy was I wrong! He comes home singing and speaking in Spanish, he has become so independent in play and practical life skills, and he wants to be apart of everything I am doing in the home (cooking, cleaning, laundry). With all of these new skills, he is happier. It's like he is beaming with love and light because he can do so many things on his own now. He's proud!
I know there have been some complaints from former parents, and possibly there was a learning curve as they grew. It seems like they have addressed most of the concerns in the community (none have been about safety FYI). They now have an application where you receive photos and updates on each kid and the teachers and school both send out newsletters. I feel like I always know what's going on in his classroom. They also have the parents bring home water bottles daily to clean and sheets and bedding weekly- realizing that their staff time isn't spent well on that. I also understand their contracts are to protect their faculty and staff, and ensure a paycheck for them. Many private schools have this policy and I feel like it is a great sign that they care about their teachers. I also work for a private school that has the same policy, it's becoming the norm.
If you are curious about Autana, I suggest taking a tour. It's one of the warmest Montessori schools I have personally seen. The kids are happy and loved and challenged. I am happy to talk to anyone if you have questions!
Autana has been wonderful to us. The teachers are attentive, stern but still nurturing. The families at Autana are wonderful. Its affordable and reliable. The women that own Autana are honest and full of integrity.
As a local business owner I understand and value the importance of creating a positive experience and also being reasonable while still setting professional boundaries. Autana strives for excellence. You will never make everyone happy but they sure do a great job in my personal and professional opinion!
Our child is thriving in this small, beautiful, loving community. In only a few months she has gained so much independence and confidence, made great friends, and learned so much from her teachers. So happy with the bilingual and Montessori components, but mostly with the attention to the children. What a peaceful, calm, supportive place for our child to grow.
This is the best school ever. I feel like we are all family. My son always wants to go and even on weekends he asks me to go to school. The teachers , Raquel and Patricia are amazing people! They always care about all the children, they are so genuine and incredible. I totally love Autana and I can't wait to put my youngest there as well. Thank you Raquel and Patty.
Exceptional school. The owners Patti and Raquel are wonderfully thoughtful, caring individuals. Their kindness, benevolence and professionalism shines through the whole program: from the attentive team they have put together to the incredibly calm and positive energy that oozes from the classrooms. They have remained wonderfully level headed through the difficult times we have all been going through lately, which had been equally helpful for parents and children alike. Cant recommend Autana enough.
Great school! We've been attending for 2 years and now will have our 2nd child start in August. Patty and Raquel are very thoughtful and created a wonderful, supportive community. All the teachers are wonderful as well.

Loved Autana Montessori! The school is absolutely first rate! It provides a great learning experience for children and develops their intelligence through multiple senses; the children are encouraged to learn in a dynamic environment and be independent. The owners and teachers are caring and focused on the children's well being, they also offer bilingual academic instruction in English and Spanish. I highly recommend Autana if you are looking for an OUTSTANDING pre-school!

Also, Please Note: I just learned the Yelp filters out reviews based on a software setting. There are five star reviews that are not accounted to Autana's overall rating. If you want to see more reviews, scroll down and click on "Not Recommended", which simply means Yelp does not recommend these reviews. They continue to filter out real reviews and can be found there.
My children have attended Autana for the last two years and we have had a great experience! It's important to remember when dealing with toddlers they will always be unpredictable. But the one thing that you can count on at Autana is them addressing and mediating any issues that may be happening.
The women are sweet and nurturing. They teach structure and peace and love our kids. I love that they eat healthy snacks and do community activities with the families of the school so we can all get to know each other. If you are looking for women who really invest in their job this is the school for you.
We've had our son at Autana almost since they opened their doors in spring 2018. I was concerned moving from a Waldorf-style in-home daycare to a Montessori center, but the passion that the owners express, their deep knowledge of Montessori, and the obvious care they have put into growing their school has proven that my few fears were unfounded. Our now-4 year old has thrived within an environment that gently encourages personal independence, freedom to 'work,' and caring adults that provide structure without being overbearing.
I've noticed a couple minor language and digital communication snafus, which can be expected with non-native English speakers who are passionate about kids and not writing emails... There was initially some staff turnover in my son's classroom, when the school first opened, but the owners had taken a big leap to grow their school from an in-home operation to a center, which is desperately needed in our area. Their staff has to meet their high standards, and the kinks have to be worked out with time. I've found the past several months at Autana to have gone very smoothly for our son, at least as far as the adults are concerned...where he has had behavior issues, normal for a 3-4 year old, they have approached us with professionalism and caring that showed that their concern was for our child and helping him grow and learn.
We are immensely grateful for the community and environment these ladies have created at Autana. Our eldest two daughters currently attend. Our eldest started in July 2018, a few months after they opened and our second started in June 2019. Our second daughter has been a tough, very independent child and had difficulties with some in home daycares I put her in a few hours a week for errands, etc. I was so nervous about how she would do at Autana, however, within one week of starting, we could see she was flourishing. They have helped so much with her expression of strong feelings, communication & providing productive outlets for her energy & will. Each day, she comes home beaming (along with our other daughter), excited to go back each morning. They provide such a nurturing, safe, exploratory environment for her to learn about the world & others.
I knew the moment I set foot in the building that this was the place for our kids. The women of Autana have such genuine, caring hearts. We are so grateful for this place!
Our daughter is now in her second school year at Autana. She was previously attending Kindercare in Louisville where our experience was not a positive one. In the time since she started at Autana, she has thrived in the Montessori environment and under the care of the Autana staff. We love the Montessori approach, the inclusion of gardening during outside play, the respect for the earth, and the bilingual and caring environment cultivated by school leaders. We were very sad at the departure of a highly regarded assistant that returned to Mexico this summer, but the consistency of the curriculum and classmates, and the ongoing involvement and support of Autana leadership minimized any negative impact from the staffing change. We are immensely thankful our family has found a great fit with the Autana community.
Our daughter started at Autana this past summer and we couldn't be more pleased with the level of care that she receives. Every morning she yells "yay, school!" as she and my husband approach Autana's parking lot. She is only two years old but I think her two words say all a parent wants to hear when dropping off their kid for the day. Autana is much more than daycare- the owners embrace the philosophy of Maria Montessori in a manner that is not only faithful to how Montessori viewed child development and education, but they also do it with overflowing love and kindness. Autana has become not only a place for our daughter to grow and thrive, but also our community- one we are very grateful to have in our lives.
Our son has been attending school at Autana for about a year and a half. He loves it so much that we enrolled our daughter into the school in August.
Simply put, the school is amazing! It is easy to see that the owners and teachers truly care about the growth and wellbeing of the children. They go out of their way to ensure each child is comfortable and flourishes in this truly warm environment.
But, the proof is really in the kids. Both of our kids are advancing very well and talk about their teachers and friends from school daily. They love going to school at Autana!
Dedicated staff. Great environment. Huge support.

All teachers are great.Best place I have ever worked at.The directors are communicative and supportive. They absolutely know what they are doing. It is truly montessori school. The school is creating a real community with families and school staff.keep doing a great job everyone .
Auntana is an excellent place to grow and learn. The family atmosphere that the staff creates makes you feel the security that parents need to leave our little ones in the part of the day when we cannot be present, they give them the love, affection and care they need, they put in each lesson special attention so that children have the interest, motivation, desire to learn and attend school happy. The first years are in which children learn more and they teach in a special way helping with the needs of each of the children, who are different from each other and learn differently but they have a capacity to see and differentiate each one and help them in what each one needs. All the families here form a community where you can feel part of it.
They follow the Montessori method in a way that we can see the progress in our children from simple things such as in the daily environment in the area of practical life to academically learning a lot and ready for the next years to come from school (you will be surprised what the little ones learn in the area of language or mathematics) gives them the social tools to solve and leave situations that belong to their age. Anyway, as I said at the beginning they form a Great Community.
100% recommend.
